What is an SLG Leader?
Become a Supported Learning Group (SLG) Leader to support your peers in better understanding challenging course content, gaining effective study skills and maximizing their potential for academic success. SLG Leaders are upper-semester students who attend lectures, and then plan and facilitate regularly scheduled study sessions to help better students understand course content.

Responsibilities
- Attend all class meetings of the selected course, take accurate notes and understand all assignments and projects
- Plan and facilitate 90-minute small group study sessions throughout the semester
- Provide additional SLG sessions as necessary (e.g. prior to quizzes and exams)
- Meet with professors periodically
- Report immediately to the Group Learning Co-ordinator or Learning Centre Support Officer when a critical issue arises
- Attend and participate in SLG Leader meetings as scheduled
- Familiarize yourself with campus resources available to students
- Submit SLG attendance report bi-weekly to the Group Learning Co-ordinator in the Learning Centre
- Help out with tutoring or administrative duties for the Learning Centre
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills
- GPA of 3.8 or higher in the targeted course(s)
- Prior enrollment in the applicable SLG-supported course
- Faculty recommendation (content competency) is required
- Ability and desire to work with students with diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to work the time promised
